We use fresh produce whenever possible at the artcafé and our menu changes four times a year to take full advantage of what's in season at the time. We believe in slow not 'fast' food so when you come and see us, sit down, relax and enjor your food, we do howver blatantly encourage table sharing.

~ real homemade soup sometimes vegetarian, sometimes not ~ ask your wait~person, served with french or wholmeal bread mersea rarebit a thick slice of wholemeal toast topped with crab paté and melted cheese toasted ciabatta with smoked salmon with poached egg and served with salad leaves. pastrami on rye and caraway bread with dill pickle dressing and salad leaves toasted chilli bread our own invention; chillied toast topped with Maggie's homemade red onion marmalade and melted cheese  |
main meals
~ our ploughmans lunch mature cheddar cheese or ham with "artcafe" chutney, pickled onions, salady bits and granary bread and butter fry-up bacon, sausage, mushrooms, tomato, bubble and squeak, fried egg veggie fry-up extra mushrooms, more tomatoes, 'double - bubble' and two eggs smoked mackerel with horseradish dressing on a herb leaf salad with granary bread todays extras why not check out the blackbourd in the cafe' for todays extras puddings
~ warm sticky orange pudding with marmalade caramel and clotted cream. ice cream by the scoop; chocolate, strawberry and vanilla hot chocolate fudge cake with vanilla ice cream. espresso sundae vanilla ice cream, amaretti biscuits, espresso, cream and chocolate ~ ooh yeah! |
*In addition to our menu Maggie bakes for all she's worth most days and we have a good selection of 'real' homemade cakes which usually includes:~ LEMON POPPYSEED CAKE, CARROT CAKE, BREAD PUDDING, FLAPJACKS, CHOCOLATE FUDGE CAKE, STICKY ORANGE CAKE, ORANGE-FRUIT TEABREAD and both CHEESE and PLAIN SCONES.
