Now in its tenth year our café was born out of our love for real, homemade food. From the very start our aim was to serve our customers the best coffee we could lay our hands on, the freshest sandwiches, imaginative wholesome dishes and genuinely homemade cakes from Maggie’s recipe collection. Cooking with ingredients sourced as locally as possible our chefs are regularly using Mersea landed fish, Mersea reared rare breed pork and free range eggs from Mersea Island hens. Our coffee is roasted not a million miles away in Suffolk and our leaf teas are blended there too.
Our breakfast has become something of an institution these days where you can let the smell of freshly ground coffee waft over you as you enjoy an Artcafe full english as the perfect start to your day. At the Artcafe you’ll enjoy the buzz of a meeting place that is the hub of the community, not too arty-farty but definitely not greasy spoon.
